Recipient of a 2019 Fellowship to study jazz composition at the University of South Florida with multiple GRAMMY® nominated composer, Chuck Owen, and winner of the 2018 Ivors Composer Award for ‘Jazz Composition for Small Ensemble’, Simon’s compositional background is actually as a classical composer. His music for the concert platform has been performed in some of London’s most prestigious venues including the Barbican Hall, The Purcell Room and St. John’s Smith Square.
Now primarily known as a jazz composer and arranger Simon was signed to ‘33Jazz’ Records in 2015 and has released two highly acclaimed albums of original compositions under the Simon Lasky Group banner.

Simon’s compositions for symphony orchestra have been performed by the New Bristol Sinfonia, and his ‘Music for Brass and Percussion’ was performed in London’s Barbican Hall. Turning his attention in recent years to composing for big band, Simon recently completed his jazz composition studies with one of America’s leading big band composers, Chuck Owen.
