Composers throughout history have relied on partnerships with supporters and philanthropists to provide funds to commission new works. Tchaikovsky had Nadezhda Von Meck, and Thelonious Monk had Baroness Pannonica de Koenigswarter! As I build towards recording my next album of original jazz compositions and arrangements, I’m excited to launch a commissioning fund called ‘Music In Your Name’;
… is an opportunity for 10 individual supporters to commission one brand new jazz composition, each of which will appear as a track on the next Simon Lasky Group album.
Your application means a lot to Simon, which why he will reach out to each potential commissioning partner individually to establish a connection. The creative process of composing music is highly personal. Therefore, he would like to find out a little more about each of the 10 supporters before confirming their participation in ‘Music In Your Name’.
